A Perfect Spring Day

A dredger makes its way north.

Gulfstream G350.

The incredibly unique and rare Epic LT, a carbon fiber kit-built single engine turboprop. I believe this airframe, one of just 54, is a demonstrator and has appeared at Epic's booth at EAA Oshkosh.

An Embraer Praetor, which may have suffered a landing gear issue and was met on the ramp buy a fire truck.

A pristine 1947 (76 years old!) Beech model 35 Bonanza!

And a Bombardier 601 Challenger to round the day off.

Even Busier Day At Palomar

Yesterday was the last day of the Farmer's Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, so McClellan-Palomar was absolutely buzzing with private and corporate jets.

The Bombardier Global 6000. One of the highest-performance long range jets on the market, and one of the largest aircraft that flies regularly into Palomar.

Always the star of the show, a gorgeous Dassault Falcon 90EX trijet.

L'originale- the Gulfstream. This is a Gulfstream V, a massive beauty that cuts an imposing figure on tall landing gear struts with two Rolls Royce BR710 turbofans that push this beast of a jet to Mach .88 at an absolute service ceiling of 51,000 feet.

With a range of 7,500 miles or 14 hours of endurance she could be going just about anywhere on Earth.

More corporate and GA at KCRQ

Normally, aircraft departing Palomar airport take off from runway 24, towards the west, but on windy Santa Ana days they take off from runway 6 towards the east making for a great photo opportunity.

Weekend freight from Caliente to Rosamond.

I spent day two of a trip to Mountain Valley Airport in Tehachapi pacing UP and BNSF freights along the Mojave division, across the Tehachap...
